Yonalink Completes Largest EHR-to-EDC Data Transfer Pilot in Clinical Trials
Yonalink, a Boston-based provider of EHR-to-EDC streaming solutions for clinical trials, has announced the successful completion of its largest live pilot study. Conducted across 21 medical centers in the United States and Israel, the study demonstrated the platform's ability to stream 93% of patient data with 100% accuracy, setting a new standard in the industry.
Yonalink’s innovative platform addresses the long-standing interoperability issues in the clinical trial sector. It enables seamless data retrieval from any electronic health record (EHR) system and precise mapping to the sponsor's electronic data capture (EDC) database. This solution aims to mitigate common challenges such as prolonged trial durations, data inaccuracies, elevated costs, and staff burnout.
The primary objectives of the pilot were to verify real-time EHR-to-EDC streaming capability and to validate the volume and accuracy of the data transferred. The results were promising, with all participating medical centers successfully streaming data to Yonalink’s EDC. In an oncology trial involving 15 patients, 93% of the requested data was accurately transferred, marking a significant achievement in clinical data management.

Dr. Eytan Ben Ami, Director of the Clinical Research Department at Sheba Medical Center, highlighted the impact of Yonalink’s platform on streamlining the data collection process. “Manual data transfer is outdated and leads to significant delays during clinical trials. Yonalink’s technology demonstrates that embracing AI can enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and ultimately allow more patients to participate in clinical trials,” he said.
The patient data streamed during the pilot included observations, medication administration, diagnoses, procedures, and pathology reports. Additionally, Yonalink’s EDC supports the upload of unformatted files such as X-rays and handwritten notes, further enhancing its versatility.
Iddo Peleg, CEO and co-founder of Yonalink, emphasized the broader implications of this advancement. “By automating data collection and transfer, we reduce the hours needed for data entry and source data verification, leading to cost savings for sponsors and reduced burden for clinical sites.
